Obituary of Michael Tancreda

Michael J. (Mickey Gus) Tancreda, 93 of Lawrenceville, entered into God's loving care Sunday, July 31, 2016, with his loving family by his side. Born in Trenton, he resided in his beloved Chambersburg for over 75 years prior to moving to Lawrenceville Mr. Tancreda proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded many citations to include a medal for his bravery in the South Pacific Arena where he spent 176 days in a fox hole stopping the enemy from advancing. Mickey Gus as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was formerly employed with the United States Postal Service for many years prior to his retirement. He loved the sport of horseracing and shared that passion with so many of his friends. Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Predeceased by his beloved wife Pennina F. "Penny" (Brigini) Tancreda, his parents, Cosimo and Anna (Radice) Tancreda, his siblings, John Tancreda, Mary Tuccillo, Rose Tucci, Margaret Massari and Elizabeth Cairo, Caroline Bencivengo and Frances Granaldi, he is survived by his two daughters, Geraldine Tancreda and her partner Chris Ivory and Anne Gliottone & husband Henry; his cherished grandchildren, Michael J. Gliottone and wife Kim, Henry Gliottone III and wife Janine; three adored great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Michael and Henry Gliottone; his brother, August Tancreda & wife Josephine; one brother-in-law, Sesto Brigini and wife Margrith; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Thursday, August 4, 2016 at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, located in the Brenna Cellini Facility. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woosley Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral Home.
