I remember the first time I met Mr. Salenetri. Nikki and I and some other friends were doing a mud run at McGuire AF Base and Nick and Pat (and Sammer Jammer) graciously invited our friend Tricia and I to stay at their home the night before the race. Though I was in my late 20s at the time, I remember feeling like a little kid going to a friends house for a sleepover. Aften Nick and Pat pick us up at the train station, they shared with us the yummy homemade pre-race feast that I'm sure they spent a large part of the day preparing us. After dinner, we sat around the kitchen table and looked at Pat's high school year book and heard all kinds of fun stories and had lots of laughs. Nick and Pat woke up early the next day to take us to the race where they proudly cheered us on for however many hours we were there. After the race they drove us back to their house (while muddy! despite our best efforts to clean up) and washed our muddy clothes and gave us even more yummy food. From the moment I met Nick, he made me feel like a part of his family. I'm so grateful to have met Nikki and to have her as my dear friend and to have met the whole giant-hearted Salenetri family.
