Obituary of Iona Snyder

Iona E. (South) Snyder, 98, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was born in Newtown, PA on September 9, 1918 to her parents, Charles P. and Sarah H. (Pullen) South. Iona moved across the Delaware river to Trenton, New Jersey as a child. She married John A. Snyder on October 25, 1941. She was a longtime resident of Hamilton, where they raised their children. Iona was a member of Slackwood Presbyterian Church and Women's club and was a member and deacon of Prospect St., Presbyterian Church for many years prior to its closure. As a stay at home Mom, she enjoyed raising her two daughters, baking, growing roses, feeding the birds and was an avid walker into her mid-nineties. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Sarah South; husband, John A. Snyder; brother, Charles South; sisters, Dorothy Parr and Anna Rogers. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws, Liz (Betty Snyder) and Tony Ricigliano, Jo Anne (Snyder) and Jeffrey Tarantino; her sister, Adeline Jenkins, and sister-in-law Helen South; grandchildren Amy Ricigliano and friend Frank Burger, April (Ricigliano) and Mark Lavigne, Chris and Trish Tarantino, Anne (Tarantino) and Jeremy Leblond; great-grandchildren, Garrett Ricigliano-Burns, Savannah Burns, Ryan Lavigne, Cadence Lavigne and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for friends and family will be held between 9:00 - 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel in the Brenna-Cellini facility, located at 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Rd, Hamilton, NJ. Funeral services will be held at the Slackwood Presbyterian Church, 2020 Brunswick Ave, Lawrenceville, NJ at 11:30 AM officiated by Rev. Ryan Irmer. Following services, interment will be in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in Iona's name.
