Obituary of Mary Pontani

Mary Irene Pontani, 93, of Hamilton, entered into God’s care Monday, May 14, 2018 at Capital Health System Hopewell, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Pontani was formerly employed with the Trenton Board of Education for over thirty-one years, prior to her retirement as a food service manager.

Mary was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St. Joachim’s Church, belonging to its Sanctuary Guild and the Senior Citizens Club. She was also a member of the Societa Romana Femminile.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will surely be missed, but is always in our hearts.  Mary was a great cook and excellent seamstress; whatever she decided to accomplish, she did and did it well.

Predeceased by her parents, Pietro and  Annunziata (Battiste) Eleuteri, her loving husband Louis P. Pontani, her sister, Barbara Ferrante, brother-in-law, Joseph Ferrante and their son , the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Ferrante, she is survived by her children; Paul Pontani and wife Carolyn, Peter Pontani and wife Louise, Linda Frascella and husband Jay and Livia  Pontani; five grandchildren, Louis Pontani and wife Amy, Tara Schad and husband Kyle, Jennifer Stone and husband Jonathan, Andrea Pontani-Newman and husband Brian and Dana Pontani; six great-grandchildren, Kasey, Jackson, Carson, Ryan, Stella and Sistilia; two step great-grandchildren, Ben and Julia; her niece, Nancy Brancolino and husband Earl and nephew, Larry Ferrante; her special friends,  Roberta Allen and husband Barry. 

Relatives & Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the D’Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, located in the Brenna Cellini facility.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of The Angels-St. Joachim's Church, 21-23 Butler Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.

Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum located in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cedar Lane, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
