Obituary of Josephine Consalvo

Josephine Giambrone Consalvo, 91, of Yardley, PA, entered into God’s loving care on Wednesday, August 22, 2018.

Born on July 16, 1927 in Trenton, NJ, Josephine was the oldest of seven living children, born to Catherine and Nicholas Giambrone.  Josephine was known for her unconditional love and gentleness. At the age of twenty-seven years old, her mother passed away and she assumed the responsibility of caring, nurturing and raising her brothers and sisters, while taking care of her husband and four-month-old daughter.

As the matriarch she was dedicated to keeping peace in the family, sharing stories of the good old days and teaching everyone the traditions, morals and values that were instilled in her by her parents. “Phine” as she was called, taught by example; always to be kind and above all, care for one another.

Josephine was happiest when she was surrounded by her family; singing, playing the piano, feeding the masses with a warm smile and inviting hug. Phine was a lady, gracious, articulate, poised and knowledgeable. She always had the right words to say and advice that solved everything.

She loved people – the postman, the grocer, neighbors and fellow church goers, all knew Phine.  People were drawn to her; a bright, beautiful face with a glowing smile and a heart of gold (And of course, makeup done impeccably). 

Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Catherine LoBue and Nicholas Giambrone; her loving husband, Gustave Consalvo; her brother, Joseph Giambrone and his wife, Helen; her sister, Phyllis DeJoie and her husband Louis; and Stephen Gary Chatto, her brother-in-law. 

Josephine is survived by her daughter Antoinette and son-in-law Ronald Zoda; her two grandsons, Michael Zoda and his wife Laura, and Nicholas Zoda. 

Also survived by siblings: Mary Chatto, her son, Stephen Chatto and wife Amy; Lawrence Giambrone, his sons Matthew Giambrone and fiancée Lauren, and Andrew Giambrone and wife Lida; Antoinette DePierro and her husband Joseph, their children Dana Valeriani and husband Christian and Joseph DePierro III and his wife Filomena; Nicholas Giambrone and his wife Sandra, their children Nicole Valletto and husband Anthony and Carl Giambrone and wife Marcy.

Josephine is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Catherine Nicoletti and husband Scott, Charles Giambrone and wife Kimberly, Michael Giambrone and wife Norma, Anthony DeJoie and wife Baggs and Michele DeJoie.

Josephine was blessed with sixteen great nieces and great nephews that loved her dearly.

A Mass of Catholic burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA. There will be no calling hours the morning of the funeral. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 29 from 5 pm to 8 pm at D'Errico Whitehorse Mercerville Chapel, LLC, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ. (located in the Brenna-Cellini facility)
