I had been an employee of the New Jersey Department four times starting in 1947-48, then in the1950's ,then in 1982, then in 1990 and every time one of the first people I met was Larry. He became a pillar of the Department and to State Employees in general. Full of knowledge, ability and humor, he could get things done. Of the family, I know Paula best and want you to know you are in my family's thoughts and prayers. For Larry, R. I. P. thy good and faithful servant. Fred Kniesler

Lawrence Arcioni was a man I’ve known my entire life, longer than probably anyone else. He was there at my Baptism, my birthday parties, and holidays. He always had a smile except of course when we kids gave him a reason not to, but even then his bark was always worst than his bite, I think he was always just too happy to really be mad at us. He tried to give me my first taste of beer at an extremely young age at a picnic at his house on Nottingham Way, I’m pretty sure he knew I wouldn’t like it. He helped me understand what it was to be Italian, he helped me when I needed him, he was always there to say grace at the holiday dinners, and he truly loved his family. My uncle was a really great guy and the world is a lesser place without him in it to make us all smile. Rest in Peace Uncle Larry you are missed.

I smiled to read this short biography of Larry Arcioni, a proud son of Poggiodomo, the most depopulated municipality in the province of Perugia, and a polished defender of the dignity and dedication of habitually derided State employees. Larry's generosity of spirit surely had Italian seasoning, but it extended to all.
Ninety-four years! He was the nightmare of the Social Security Fund trustees, but the joy of all of us who would delight in running into him, most often in the past decade at Chick and Nello's. Yuki and I have been his big fans for nearly fifty years, and are glad he could enjoy such a long and vital life.

Dear Larry and Paula,
I did not get to know your father, really till Knights of Columbus and his stint in the retirement home. I was not told your
father passed away. My Mom used to take you from your long time home on Stonicker near the Drive In Theater, Joe Drulis, and Paul to Notre Dame Split Sessions, during the 70's, when Thul and then Hughes were principals. Real Notre Dame Family, know this well, you were late, Mom always was late. my Mom was never told, well it shows Saint Ann's and us are done. Pretty insulting, but beggars can't be choosers, they are beggars. Your dad tried to get me a job with the State, I took the test for two positions, he loved the grade, my Aunt Olga and brother JR were already there, I guess honest people aren't welcome. He was a Teamster, he showed me last year when I told him Councilman Ryan was a UPS driver, and gave him his card, he gave me he came with Vereen, don't lie! I worked for Fed Ex! He would tell me how you brought him the paper, visited him regularly and how Sal Zulla took him to Church. a great Knight, at meetings I filled him in regularly, and when he stopped going, John Weiser deceasedr, Jack Butler deceased, Dick McKeever deceased, Pasquale Adesso deceased, Pat D"Angelo deceased, Art Matti left, and Dr Gerry DeBlois, caretaker for a while, of Mrs DeBlois, who had cancer, Connie and Valerie's father, my Valerie, left this world, I wanted no more part of it, my father in law was gone., my 3rd degree and 4th degree associate, your dad said,, " good move! " Judy, Tracey Destribats sister will take good care of you, and I brought Bacala Salad bought from Marsh's Crab Shack to him, made by Dad with Mom's blessing, when your Mom was ill, and even after at, not because of pity, but gratitude for wasting his precious time to try to get me a job with a ungrateful State of New Jersey! From One Varsity Football Warrior to another, both All Mercer County, you of Discipliarian and Coach Al Verdel, me of his successor Chappy Moore, second father, history teacher, coach, and mentor!!!! GO IRISH! In his words Larry as I told you with your flip phone at Havana and your gray haired friend, " trust no bum who slanders my holy name, they are not worth seeing or mentioning, they are non existent!
