Obituary of Placido Mondello

Placido “Dino” Mondello, 72, of Hamilton, entered in God’s care Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, with his loving family by his side. Dino, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born and raised in Palermo, Sicily and immigrated to the United States along with his family in 1970, settling in the Chambersburg section of Trenton. He was formerly employed with Nino's Pastry Shop in Hamilton for many years. He was an avid soccer player and a staunch fan of the game, he loved talking about his family history from Sicily, and spending time with his family and friends. Dino will always be remembered a loving and caring man who never had a bad word about anyone. Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Gioacchina (Faraci) Mondello, his brother-in-law, Joseph Vannozzi, Sr., his niece, Michelle (Vannozzi) Campbell, he is survived by two sisters and a brother, Antonia Tradigo, Josephine “Josie” Vannozzi and Sandro Mondello; his nieces and nephews, Michael Tradigo, Deborah Tradigo, Kelly Vannozzi, Samuel Vannozzi and wife Lisa, Joseph Vannozzi, Jr. and wife Lindsey, Nicholas Mondello, Jessica Mondello and Eric Campbell; also survived by nine great-nieces and great-nephews, and other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be held 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesday, August 17 at D'Errico Funeral Chapel, LLC, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Hamilton, NJ 08620, located in Buklad Merlino Facility, followed by Services at 12:00 pm. Private Family Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
