Obituary of August Tancreda

August “Augie” Tancreda, 94, of Hamilton, entered in God’s care Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton with his family by his side. Born in Trenton, he resided in the Chambersburg section, prior to moving to Hamilton. Augie or Junior, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was employed with Stokes Molded Products until his retirement. He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels Parish St. Joachim’s Church and former member of its choir. Augie was also a former member of The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing Pinochle, Catch-five and trips to the track with his late brother, Michael. In his later years he found much enjoyment golfing. Augie was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend who will be remembered for his pleasant caring personality. Predeceased by his parents, Cosimo and Anna (Radice) Tancreda, his siblings, John Tancreda, Mary Tuccillo, Rose Tucci, Margaret Massari, Elizabeth Cairo, Caroline Bencivengo, Frances Granaldi and Michael Tancreda, and two cherished grandchildren, Faith Haymond and Matthew Haymond. He is survived by his loving wife of 73years, Josephine (Muccioli) Tancreda; four daughters, Judi Haymond and husband Chet, Pat Stracquatanio and husband John, Janice Seitz and husband Robert and Teri Volpe and husband Frank; his grandchildren, Jennifer Seitz, Michele Myers and husband Brian, Erica Kleppe and husband Tim, Kathryn Stracquatanio and husband Jeff Golin , John Stracquatanio and wife Carrie Deutsch, Robert Seitz and Nicholas Volpe; his adored great-grandchildren, Jackson, Natalie, Connor, Olive, Brody, Ethan, Ellie and Luca; as well as by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St. Joachim's Church, 20-56 Butler Street, Trenton, NJ 08611, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
