Obituary of William R Hoagland Jr

William Robinson Hoagland, Jr., 77 years old, of Hamilton Township, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 23rd, 2023. Bill was born on March 16, 1946 to the late William and Annie Lee Hoagland in Trenton, NJ. Bill was the oldest of his five siblings Linda, Nancy Lee, Martha, the late John and Chris. He graduated from Steinert High School then went on to graduate from Trenton State College, playing both golf and soccer throughout his college years. His Trenton State College soccer team won the 1964 National Championship and he was later inducted into the Mercer County Soccer Hall of Fame in April 2019. He also served in the Military Training Division at Camp Lejeune, finishing at Camp Pendleton. He graduated first in his class and one of his greatest accomplishments was wearing dress blues for the ceremony. Bill started his career as a teacher and coach at Fisher Junior and Ewing High Schools. With his love of soccer, he was an assistant coach at Rutgers University. He had many careers, a forever entrepreneur, including a landscaping business, a Christmas tree farm, a builder – finally starting his own business, W.R.H. Design Build. Bill and Holly were married for 53 years and were best known for their family Christmas dinners. He was a devoted father and grandfather, immensely proud of his family. Bill is survived by his son, Rob Hoagland and wife Rachel, daughter Ryan and husband Tom, and grandson’s Maxwell Bruce, Chase William and TJ William. His love of fishing, golf, soccer, gardening, and cooking will live on in his family forever. A private cremation and celebration will be held with family. In his memory, donations can be made to Folds of Honor, that supports the pursuit of education for the families of America’s fallen and disabled heroes.
