Today is my birthday. 10 years since you’ve passed. Amazing how little time feels for us here. How much I miss you papi, there are no words or emotions for. It may very well had felt like the end 10 years ago but if I chose you, how could I lose you?
I chose you before the beginning. And just as God intended, you accepted. I couldn’t have lost you.
I gained you.
You were my world, my first friend, my heart before I knew what one was. My soul chose you. Because of you, it knows compassion. It knows and shares love unconditionally. It knows patience, humility and the grace God gave for me having you.
It knows our time here isn’t meant for us forever. God allowed me to accept that truth that day.
And since that day, my soul has known courage and bravery. It knows to be fearless and to overcome all hurdlers. It knows humor, joy, pain and the innerstandings of how meaningful it all is to be alive and to live.
I only dream of what our lives would be like today. The things I wish I could tell you. The places I wish I could show you. The wisdom I’ve gained and continue to seek that I wish I could share with you. I take it I would be the one adorning you as you once did for me.
I would choose you every time.
A love that could never be repaid.
The gifts God sent you baring with continues to live in all of those you’ve loved. It lives in me. Though it may have seem short, you lived a purposeful life that no other will.
I forever thank you for having me apart of it. I thank you.

You were responsible for the little ones while mom worked. One of your duties was to comb this kindergarteners hair. Lol! All my matted hair was tucked underneath the ribbon that loosely fit my hair. I looked like a lion by the time I got home from school. Wild curls ;-)

How I use to sneak in the house without waking you up while you slept on the sofa. I use to take my shoes off outside. Turn the key in the lock without making noise, and avoided the steps that creaked going upstairs so you wouldn't tell mom how late I got home. Don't know if I got away with it or whether you knew and didn't tell. You were always a good brother and will always be loved and remembered.

I always remember hanging out on the porch and listening to El General on that big ol boom box with him.(rico, suave) He used to dress in the addias outfit and his high top reeboks. Salt-n-pepa were the flyest girls on the planet, he even had a poster of them tapped to the inside of his tape storage box. But most of all he showed me the ever so delicious mayonnaise sandwich. Til this day if there is nothing in my pantry and all I have is mayo and bread, these items come together to cure my hunger. Thanks for teaching me, we make due with what we have and be grateful, because it could always be worst and have nothing. I wish I could talk to you one last time. Because I could still hear your voice in my head.:'(
